According to the Big Light Social Network’s Alison Groves, XF3 might not be the next time we see Mulder and Scully!
Word is "a certain well liked pair of FBI agents" will make a cameo on the September 17 season premiere of Fringe on FOX.
No details yet of how or why. If and when we get that information, we will get it to you!
Fringe moves to Thursday nights at 9pm this fall, after Bones.

I don't get why people are saying that Fringe copying X-Files is a bad thing. And I watched the entire season of Fringe and thought it was very different from X-Files.
Let's not forget that X-Files copied things like The Twilight Zone, The Night Stalker, etc.

Let me start this by making it clear that I despise Fringe. I DESPISE FRINGE. I've watched the teasers to two episodes and realized that they are word-for-word taken from The X-Files. However, Let's not forget who wrote a preface for 'The Complete X-Files'--JJ Abrams. In that very preface he explains how much the X-files is the best show ever, blahblahblah. More importantly, how much it inspired him. Now I think that any Mulder/Scully publicity would greatly increase chances of an XF3. Also it could begin to set the tone for future projects. I also think that it could be a way of saying "sorry for stealing your beloved show and stabbing it numerous times" to the fans. It will certainly get me to watch it, that's for sure.

No one said David or Gillian would be appearing on Fringe. The information we have is this:

Until we get more information I wouldn't discount it altogether.

I do have mixed feelings as I am not a huge Fringe fan, but it is a FOX show and FOX owns "The X-Files" so in my mind, publicity for X-Files on Fringe, if it gets FOX to see there is a willing audience for a third film, is a positive thing.
As for the picture, I chose two photos and asked Garrett to photo shop them for me. I picked them because Gillian looks gorgeous here and the way she is facing (opposite of how the photo was taken originally) makes it look as though she is looking at Fringe's main character. That and the men are in the background here leaving the leading ladies to fight it out :P

By the way, no idea if it is tied to the increased sales on Amazon but it looks like Best Buy just put the X-Files season box sets on sale for $15 each. I think these are the slim pack editions, but still.

Despite the fact that Fringe is absolutely not my show, I would of course love to watch the epi if it had M&S in it. But honestly I cannot quite believe it. Maybe they'll use some old XF footage for it because I can't quite picture D&G doing it.
But then again, there have been rumors of GA being in L.A., so maybe......:)

I do not claim to know what FOX' intentions are but any publicity for "The X-Files" is a good thing right now.
It could come down to a lot of things, but I believe it might be a signal to FOX to see if there is enough hype with Mulder and Scully to increase ratings on another FOX show. Assuming the ratings increase based on this "rumor" that could weigh heavily in their minds as far as making a third film is concerned.
In light of the "Believe in the Future" campaign, I would strongly recommend that Philes watch that night for the cameo. I don't know any more than you at this point, but the fact that Mulder and Scully may be on TV again regardless of what form that takes, is a good thing.

Chris Carter does not own the characters of Mulder and Scully, Fox does. Therefore, it's possible. However, it seems a little too good to be true. I'll bet it's just a roundabout reference to the characters at the FBI, and I doubt the mythologies will mix.

Sorry but aside from trying to grab Philes to start watching "Fringe", what benefit does a cameo give to the XF franchise? Is this supposed to be FOX introducing Mulder & Scully to a younger audience? Does it give "Fringe" legitimacy to XF fans? Not to doubt Allison but I don't understand why Chris, David, & Gillian would do this unless FOX was pulling the strings...maybe dangling a third movie based on the "audience response" of their cameo.
I've been down of FOX with their lack of promotion of IWTB so I wouldn't put it past them that they're pushing for a M/S cameo on a show they probably consider their new X-Files franchise. Would I watch "Fringe" if David and Gillian were on, of course...but I'm switching channels as soon as their cameo's over.

This would be awesome if it actually happens. I watch Fringe, its an ok show so far but as all of you know its nothing like X Files. The makings of a huge show like X Files is just not there for Fringe. Anyway, I can not see this happening unless they pick some other people other then Duchovny and Anderson to play the parts which would just be horrid. I really hope its true tho but only if the DD and GA do it. I think that would be a great homage to the X Files.

As much as I would like... scratch that GOD-DAMN ADORE to see more M&S on the 'box, I kind of get the feeling this is just rumour. Besides what has the IWTB version of Mulder & Scully got to do with anything Fringe has to offer. Like Scully said "we don't work on the X-Files anymore Mulder", and there is next to nothing paranormal in the film, so I feel encorperating them into the program (although, it'd be pretty awesome) it would be rather futile.
Besides, I completely agree with "Musings of a Cigarette-Nonsmoking Trish" & will also jump up & down squeeee-ing. Anyway, I'd have to watch it online - we don't get Fringe in the UK :(
